Eddie Thoneick - Funk

Eddie Thoneick has been making music for some time but his real break-through came in 2006 with the track Love Sensation. Teaming up with Kurd Maverick, the duo came up with a dancefloor anthem that made its way into sets by Axwell, Erick Morillo and Pete Tong, to name a few. Here, his latest release Funk continues his minimalist production style. With arresting sonic grows and dissonant musical motifs, it's a serious and at times, intense recording. Vocal samples echo the track's title as Thoneick takes the listener on a dark and eerie journey. Out on 22nd March on Subliminal Records.

Lys - Few Things

Rising Music's own Italian Stallion, Marco Lys, returns with this take on loop-based house. Few Things combines funky bass guitar, vocal samples and disco stabs. Also thrown into the mix are digital effects and driving synths custom made for maximum dancefloor impact.

Moguai - Nyce

Love this new release from Germany's Moguai. Nyce builds energy with its complex synth melodies. Using tightly packed harmonies Moguai fuses chord progressions with flowing counter-melodies. The effect is powerful as a grand symphony of digital harmonies is coupled with intense house percussion. Don't miss it!

Discodonk - Borino Oro

Go Discodonk! With its busy brass ensemble and perfect bass accompaniment, Borino One is musically complex and fresh. Continuing a recent trend in brass-driven house, Discodonk craft intense and powerful highs and lows that translate perfectly to dancefloors. Expected to be huge at the forthcoming Miami Winter Music Conference.

Japanese Popstars - Destroy

The Japanese Popstars are native to Northern Ireland and made up of Declan McLaughlin aka Decky Hedrock, Gary Curran, and Gareth Donoghue. Destroy is a superb production centered on a manic low-tech bass line and piled high with effects and digital distortions. The vocals add to the mania as spoken lyrics and looped samples build intensity. Full version when we get it.

Faithless - Not Going Home ( Eric Prydz Remix)

Not Going Home was last week's essential new tune on Pete Tong's radio show. With a stellar remix from Eric Prydz it's quite special. Things start out in tense territory. A pulsing minor key tension-bed sits under the slightly disturbing Faithless lyrics. Excitement levels are built gradually until Prydz unleashes a powerful minor key motif complete with moving bass line and string counter-melodies. It's here that things really get going. Overall, expect this to be HUGE!

Jimmy Vallance - A New Leaf

Here's a new release from Canadian techno DJ/producer Jimmy Vallance. Intended as "a pencil sketch of what the label is about", Valance's first EP A New Leaf is intensely percussive, coupling rhythm layers and effects with vocal snippets. With a live drumming feel, A New Leaf sounds like a blend of real and synthetic elements with the single purpose of getting people dancing. Other tracks on the EP include Tweet Tweet and JuhMeanda.

Patty Pravo - La Bambola (Tucillo Remix)

Legendary Italian pop singer Patty Pravo has new life breathed into her 1968 classic La Bambola with this remix from Giuseppe Tucillo. Tucillo's mixture of soulful acoustic guitar and current-day house beats works as a compelling opening. The real magic then follows as Pravo's distinctive vocals lend a sizable nostalgic chorus to the proceedings. What's so great about this production is the seamless combination of the original with new elements. It doesn't feel forced - in fact, it's a respectful and beautifully crafted revisiting of the original.

Prok & Fitch Pres. Nanchang Nancy - Walk With Me (Axwell Vs. Daddy's Groove Remix)

Child prodigy Nanchang is now behind a number of impressive releases. Here, UK DJ-producer duo Prok & Fitch "present" Nanchang's Walk With Me. Remix credits go to Swedish hit-maker Axwell and Italian dance outfit Daddy's Groove. With this many cooks in the kitchen the results are surprisingly sweet. This remix has all the elements of a Main Room monster hit. The vocals work superbly packaged in their new tightly produced home. And the massive piano-riff creates an effective euphoric break. Expect this to be around for some time.

Utah Saints - Various (Live Mix)

Special thanks to the Utah Saints for this free sixty minute mix recorded live last week in the UK. Utah Saints, made-up of musicians and DJs Jez Willis and Tim Garbutt have been a huge force in the electronica world since the early nineties. With a firm grasp of theatrics, Utah Saints showcase their energy-saturated DJ style with this stellar live mix. This really has to be heard to be believed. There's so much to it that it's hard to know where to begin, but my favorite moments include the use of Prodigy Firestarter and the classical samples in the epic opening. Full track listing when we get it. If you're in Edinburgh Scotland tonight check out the Utah Saints at the Sugarbeat Edinburgh 5th Birthday Party.

James Talk & Ridney - Forever

Expected to be huge at this year's Miami Winter Music Conference, James Talk & Ridney collaborate again on Forever. Sampling Fantasy by Earth, Wind & Fire, the duo continue the tradition of looped-up retrospective disco anthems in new packaging. Forever's put together with panache and skilfully creates something new from something nostalgic. There's something great about the new bassline coupled with the vocal loop - it creates new harmonies and perfectly elicits souring euphoria. Great work!
